What are mini Goldendoodles
Mini Goldendoodles is a cross-breed between a traditional golden retriever and a standard Poodle. The name Goldendoodle derives from taking the first part of a golden retrievers name and merging that with the name poodle.
Mini or small toy looking poodles are referred to as doodles which is why you may find that the golden doodle name has been given to this breed. Next, we will look at a little bit about the history of Goldendoodle
How long have mini golden doodles been around?
According to Wikipedia the Goldendoodle has been around from as far back as 1969. Of where the breed was first bred by a lady named Monica Dickens.
However, it wasn’t until the 1990’s that this breed then became popular as that is when North American and Australians started to cross goldens with standard poodles.
There is no doubt about it that these dogs have some great traits, so let us discuss what some of those traits are.
Why can I find mini Goldendoodle puppies for sale?
If your looking for a dog that you can fit into your handbag or increase your masculinity when walking down the street, then this may be the dog for you.
They come in a small to medium size of a maximum of around 19inches. Goldendoodles love to make close contact as much as possible which is why you will usually find owners physically carrying them around.
A poodle and a retriever both take pride in people pleasing and are relatively good with people and other dogs. This would be a great choice for you if you live in an urban environment or tower block as they can easily get enough exercise from short walks per day.
That way you do not have to worry about living in an apartment as they will be just fine. It’s also common for a mini golden doodle to follow you around the house and want your attention more time than not throughout the day.
But how much energy do they really have? Keep reading to find out in the following section.
Are mini Goldendoodles hyper like golden retrievers?
If we were to put things on to a scale of how hyperactive this dog is against a golden, then we could say they are around 60% of where they are.
Whilst there is no exact formula, and as much as a hate the word hyper. You can be assured that this dog will not be overwhelming to manage around the house.
In fact, you will probably spend more of your time cuddling up to them on the sofa when you got some time to relax. According to a few forum posts that I have recently read on the golden retriever forum. You can expect to walk this dog for around:
- 8 miles per week
- 60 minutes per day
Which when you think about it is not that bad at all. And for those of you that are gym fanatics, then this may even be not enough for you. So now we get to the all-important question that you probably have been waiting for. Where exactly can you get one of these dogs and how?
Where can I buy a Goldendoodle?
before we discuss exactly where you can purchase one of these dogs. I always like to clarify exactly what my view is on using private and registered public breeders.
For those of you who have a smaller budget then you can go down the group of purchasing from a private breeder. although it is highly recommended that if you take this route that you do your due diligence to make sure that they are reputable and trustworthy of your service.
There have been too many times where you find parents getting conned out of deals due to rogue breeders that have no intention of providing a trustworthy service.
So just make sure that you do your homework beforehand which will then help you to steer clear of any of those dodgy dealers.
If you are looking to keep the cost down, then you can explore the route of adoption or using a private breeder. If you decide to do so then here are a few private breeders that I recommend you check out first.
- Greenfield puppies
- Doodlecountryminis.com (farm of minis)
- Lancaster puppies
A few breeders to check out first
All of these breeders have a good track record and are a great place to start looking further into making a purchase.
Always make sure that you can go and meet the puppy beforehand as if they are genuine, you should be able to meet your potential friend before doing all the paperwork.
I have heard of some breeders not allowing this. If you find that this is the case, then I suggest that you do not use that breeder and find another elsewhere.
If you find you are able to get to Doodlecountryminis.com, then you can go and see all the pups and parents on a farm where these breeders house their pups. It doesn’t really get much better than that.
Put your money where your mouth is
For those of you with a little more of a higher budget, then I suggest you do a search on the AKC official website to find reputable dog breeders in your area.
If on the other hand if you have very little money then you could check out the route of adoption. There are 2 main sites that I would recommend you check out to help with finding a dog o adopt in your area. These 2 sites are:
What will I need to take to purchase a pup
You will need just some form of ID and your proof home address. With some breeders, it may be just one or the other but if they are genuine, then they will usually seek one.
Of course, if you go completely private then this security measure may not be taken. But you find that most breeders care about who and where their pups are going, so just make sure you got your paperwork with you.
What do breeders give to me upon purchase?
When you purchase a puppy, you should be provided a health certificate that ensures the puppy has had all of their jabs prior to the age of 8 weeks of age.
You should also see certification of the breeder to make sure that they are registered with the AKC as a reputable breeder over in the UK. Some may not have this but it’s important you ask why and where you can get proof if they don’t.
How much will a puppy like this cost?
By looking across the list of reputable online breeders, I could find that a dog like this will set you back around the region of 800 to 2500 American dollars. Again, depending on the breeder you choose will, in turn, reflect on the price that you pay.
Either way, it is super important that you do your research correctly and speak to an experienced individual if need be. And if there is anything that I may be able to help with too, then you know that you are welcome to reach out or leave a comment.
Finding mini Goldendoodle puppies for sale is for sure a great option for most parents as they are fun, loving and caring companion dogs. They love making close contact for the most. And they listen and follow instructions as requested.
If you live in an apartment or don’t have a lot or your not so much the outdoor type. Then this will be a good choice for you as these dogs are happy to spend most of their time inside. Make sure to read up on some of my other posts regarding some unique mixes with Goldens.
